For 125 years, Bronson has been more than a place of healing. What began as a single hospital has grown into a regional health system, each chapter building upon the last, each community adding to the symphony of care that defines us. As we celebrate this extraordinary milestone, we invite you to explore the moments, the people and the unwavering commitment that have shaped our legacy and continue to inspire our future. This is our story—and it’s been written together.
For 125 years, Bronson has led the region in medical innovation—from opening southwest Michigan’s first hospital in 1901 to becoming a Level I Trauma Center, achieving Magnet® designation for nursing excellence and pioneering minimally invasive surgical techniques with the latest technologies. Each chapter of our growth has expanded access to the most advanced care, bringing breakthrough treatments and procedures closer to home.
Across Bronson, you’ll find the same patient-centered approach that has guided us for 125 years. Because we operate as one integrated system, your care is coordinated across locations, specialists and services. Your medical records follow you. Your care team communicates seamlessly. And you never feel lost in the system—because we’ve built a network designed to work in harmony on your behalf.
Our impact comes from our deep roots in the communities we serve. As a not-for-profit, community-owned health system, Bronson is accountable to the people we serve—not shareholders. Every year, we reinvest more than $147 million in the community in the form of charitable care, health education, wellness programs and other services that improve the health of our region.
Every care location in the Bronson system benefits from shared expertise, unified quality standards and integrated resources. When you receive care in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, South Haven, or any Bronson location, you can trust that you’re receiving the same high level of clinical excellence, commitment to safety and patient-centered approach that has defined Bronson for 125 years.

Throughout our history, people have been at the center of everything we do. Here, colleagues and patients share what Health in Harmony means to them—and how together, we create something extraordinary.
"Health in Harmony means trusting the person next to you—whether that’s a nurse, a specialist or a patient’s family member. In cardiology, we don’t save lives alone. It’s the respiratory therapist who notices a subtle change, the pharmacist who catches a potential interaction, the patient who trusts us enough to share what’s really going on. When everyone plays their part, that’s when miracles happen. That’s the Bronson difference."

"I came to Bronson scared and uncertain. What I found was a team that treated me like family. From the surgeon who explained every step, to the nurse who held my hand before surgery, to the person who brought warm” meals”during recovery—everyone cared. Health in harmony isn’t just about medicine. It’s about knowing you’re not alone. It’s 125 years of people choosing compassion, and I’m living proof of that promise."

"People don’t always think about the kitchen when they think about healthcare, but nutrition is healing. Every tray I prepare might be going to someone on their hardest day, or their best day heading home. I work in harmony with dietitians” who tell me what patients need, nurses who know their preferences, and families who want their loved ones to feel comforted. My role matters. Every role matters. That’s what 125 years of Bronson has taught me—we all contribute to healing. "patient who trusts us enough to share what’s really going on. When everyone plays their part, that’s when miracles happen. That’s the Bronson difference." during recovery—everyone cared. Health in harmony isn’t just about medicine. It’s about knowing you’re not alone. It’s 125 years of people choosing compassion, and I’m living proof of that promise."

In 2011, Battle Creek Health System became a part of Bronson Healthcare. Fifteen years later, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital remains a key anchor institution in a city long known for its manufacturing heritage, innovation and role as the birthplace of the cereal industry.
Bronson Battle Creek Hospital has grown its medical staff from 275 to more than 500 physicians and advanced practice providers and created more than 100 new jobs. This growth has increased access to care while strengthening the local economy.
Beyond inpatient hospital care, Bronson Battle Creek provides a broad range of primary, specialty and emergency services, ensuring comprehensive, high-quality care for patients across the region. Through continued investment, partnerships and workforce growth, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital has played a meaningful role in advancing health, stability and opportunity in Calhoun County.

For more than a century, Bronson has played a central role in advancing health care, education and economic stability in southwest Michigan. The story began in 1901 with the flagship hospital and one of the region’s most enduring institutions. Today, Bronson Methodist Hospital is one of Kalamazoo County’s largest employers with more than 4,000 providers, nurses and staff. It has generated significant economic impact through wages, purchasing and long-term investment. As the hub of the Bronson Healthcare system, the hospital anchors a network of services that extends well beyond its downtown campus.
Across Kalamazoo County, Bronson provides a variety of outpatient services from primary care and behavioral health to imaging services, rehabilitation and cancer care. Through continued growth, innovation and community partnership, Bronson remains a cornerstone of health, employment and stability in Kalamazoo County.

For nearly 20 years, Bronson has served the rural Paw Paw community with high quality emergency care, primary and specialty care, and outpatient services.
Bronson LakeView Hospital and its surrounding outpatient offices energize the local economy by creating jobs, expanding infrastructure and partnering with local community organizations. These commitments help strengthen the Paw Paw community as a home for families, small businesses and agriculture and reduce the need to travel outside the county for vital health and wellness services.
Bronson’s presence in Paw Paw provides continuity across Van Buren County, connecting patients to enhanced services and a higher level of care through the seamless Bronson health system experience. Through ongoing investment in healthcare services and the local community, Bronson continues to have a positive economic and health impact in Paw Paw and the surrounding area.

In 2017, the South Haven Health System became Bronson South Haven, and four years later, the new Bronson South Haven Hospital opened its doors to meet the region’s growing health care needs. The new hospital embodies Bronson’s long-term commitment to provide high-quality care close to home for Van Buren County residents and visitors.
As a critical access hospital, Bronson South Haven Hospital plays an essential role in the local economy. The hospital, wellness center and outpatient practices support hundreds of jobs and contribute to economic stability in a community shaped by tourism, agriculture and small business. The hospital serves as a trusted health care hub year-round, including during peak summer months when the population swells.
